There is a report that lists all encrypted columns. You'll find it under All Reports -> Data Dictionary Reports -> Security -> Encryption. Will that help you?
I imagine that the number of encrypted columns in a database is quite limited so it should be quite easy to spot.

that would still be a bug in our DESC thought, the SQL*Plus describe
are you doing a desc - execute as script in the sql worksheet, or a Shift-F4 on the table?
In sqlplus worksheet, I type 'desc tbl_name' and it shows in the Script Output tab.
