If you were trying to install Oracle before this attempt which failed or exited, it creates entry in inventory.xml file stored at oraInventory/ContentsXML path.
The installer may be picking the ORACLE_HOME value from here. You will have to clear it before running the installer.
I have removed that folder already...it used to exist in C:/Program Files/Oracle/Inventory...I hope you are refering the same thing?
I have followed below steps:
regedit.exeand delete the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Oraclekey. This contains registry entires for all Oracle products.
- If you are running 64-bit Windows, you should also delete the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Oraclekey if it exists.
- Delete any references to Oracle services left behind in the following part of the registry (
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Ora*). It should be pretty obvious which ones relate to Oracle.
- Reboot your machine.
- Delete the "
C:\Oracle" directory, or whatever directory is your ORACLE_BASE.
- Delete the "
C:\Program Files\Oracle" directory.
- If you are running 64-bit Wiindows, you should also delete the "
C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle" directory.
- Remove any Oracle-related subdirectories from the "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\" directory.
- Empty the contents of your "
- Empty your recycle bin.
Still it is giving same error. Please help.

Oracle 12C Windows install requires windows user. That user is used to start Oracle services. You are asking install process to create user mohit while such windows user already exists.
I have given new Oracle Home name and created new Windows user,i have done that earlier as well but now i am not able to instantiate my SQL Developer,it asks for some java.exe path.I am not sure what exact path needs to be given here.
When i give path of Java.exe :C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath
It still throws the Error:Cannot find J2SE SDK installed at the path:C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath.
Obviously, since you "I have given new Oracle Home". Go to ...\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin directory. Edit sqldeveloper.conf and modify/add
Thanks everyone issue is resolved now.
