Support Oracle Advanced Security Option (ASO) encryption when using the ODP.NET Managed Provider

jeff.blankenbillerJul 10 2015 — edited Oct 28 2015

Oracle Advanced Security Option (ASO) encryption is not supported when using the ODP.NET Managed Provider.

This is documented as unsupported here:

https://docs.oracle.com/database/121/ODPNT/InstallConfig.htm#ODPNT8159

There is no support for Oracle Advanced Security Option (ASO) encryption. Setting SQLNET.ENCRYPTION_SERVER to required is not supported, resulting in client connection establishment failure. Not setting SQLNET.ENCRYPTION_SERVER or setting it to any other valid value is supported.

When will support for ASO encryption be added to the ODP.NET Managed Provider?

Is there any alternative to provide encryption between the client and server while using the ODP.NET Managed Provider?
