adop apply phase failed. how to proceed

    2893577

We are in mid of recommended patching on EBS R12.2.4 instance with 12.1.0.2.0 db. We have performed below activities till now:

      adop phase =prepare

      adop phase =apply patches=1

      adop phase=apply patches=2

      adop phase=apply patches=3

      .

      .

      .

      .

      .

One of the patch has failed:

      adop phase=apply patches=20592764

We have applied 30 patches till now in adop apply phase one by one and still need to apply other patches. Patch 20592764 has failed due to incompatibility with R12.2 codeline C.

We don't want to use abort as we have already applied 30 patches and it will start cycle from scratch. We are yet to apply 40 more patches. Also few times abort is leading to Data dictionary corruption in our instances and a bug is already raised with Oracle Support.
      Can we use: adop phase=apply restart=no abandon=yes patches=20592764

Kindly suggest how to proceed with patching. We are stuck now.

          Can we use: adop phase=apply restart=no abandon=yes patches=20592764

Since the patch did not affect the system, you can safely abandon that session using the command mentioned above.

            Hi,

We tried with abandon=yes. It still failed with the same error:

            bash-4.1$ adop phase=apply restart=no abandon=yes patches=20592764

Codeline C patch is also available but it requires AD.DELTA.6 to be applied as a per-requisite. We are currently on DELTA.5.

            Kindly suggest.

              Bashar.

I suggest to start with the next patch using the "abandon=yes" parameter.

It seems that I forgot to mention that in my previous post!

By the way, why didn't you apply AD.Delta.6 instead of delta.5?

              Regards,

              Bashar

                Hi Bashar,

                Thanks.

We used abandon=yes restart=no for the next patch and this time adop apply completed successfully. adop apply phase status changed to active again.

We have completed remaining adop phases successfully:

Any idea if patching activity could cause this issue.

I will raise a separate thread if required.

                  Hi,

We are currently on AD.C.DELTA 5 and we are planning to apply AD.C.DELTA 6 soon.

Above patch was a DBA mistake and mistakenly Codeline B patch was downloaded.

                    Bashar.

Glad to hear that it worked.

For the new problem, I suggest to start a new discussion to get more attention from other members since this one is answered.

                    Thank you.
