We would like to upgrade 11i environment to r12.2 with migration from 32 to 64-bit. Our current set-up as below.
Database - 10.2.0.5 running on Redhat 5 Linux 64-bit
EBS - 188.8.131.52 running on Redhat 5 Linux 32-bit
Database - 184.108.40.206 on Redhat 6 Linux 64-bit
EBS - R12.2 on Redhat Linux 6 64-bit
My main concern here is that EBS 11i is not certified to run on Redhat 6 64bit.
My plan was to clone to new servers, upgrade the database to 220.127.116.11 then install R12.2 base release then upgrade to R12.2.4 but not sure this is possible given the operating system version on our new system being 64bit. Ideally we want to reduce as much downtime as possible and perform most of the work on the new servers.
Please suggest how can we go about migration and upgrade for this configuration
By new servers, I am assuming you mean that the RHEL6 servers will be on new hardware.
One option you have is to take two downtimes - one for the database upgrade and the other for the app upgrade. How big is the database and how much downtime can you afford ?
Upgrade the database to 12c on the current server - https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/database_12_1_0_21
For the app upgrade, install 12.2 on the new app server, then clone/copy 12c database to new server and relink db binaries, and continue with the upgrade process.
