How would that be different than what you see in View > SQL History (F8) ?
For a script you see start time and time spent executing.
You can also say
SET TIMING ON
The total execution time will also be shown in the editor after running a query or script.
1) the info would be available even when the script is running.
useful in case you run an unexpcted long query and you forgot to have a look at your clock.
2) the info would be immediatly available with just a look at the worksheet.
With no F8 to press and no SET command to give (that you may forget to issue )
MS Sql studio has this timer, and i found it very handy!!
You'll see your stuff show up on view > task progress once the query takes more than a few seconds to run
Ok got it Jeff.
But not very handy in my opinion, why not to show it up also in the sql worksheet?
By the way, thanks a lot for the hint ant the time.
Our main philosophy is to keep the UI as uncluttered as possible. It's there if you need/want it.
