Issues while rolling up values where a child has multiple parents in parent-child hierarchy OBIEE

      Hello All,

I am implementing parent - child hierarchy in our reports and I am facing issues while rolling up values where a child has multiple parents.

For example, I have  a scenario like this :

      A

      -B

      -C

      -D

      X

      -B

      -Y

      -Z

where A and B have 3 children each but both of them have B in common.

Due to this scenario, I have 2 records in my table as follows:

      ChildParentPeriod
      BA201505
      BA201505

      Fact Table:

      IdPeriodAmt
      B201505100
      C2015050
      D2015050
      Y2015050
      Z2015050

When I am trying to pull the hierarchy for A, the ideal output should be 100+0+0=100, but as it the fact is joined to the above table, the value associated to B is getting multiplied twice, but it should appear only once.

How can I model this scenario?

Can I do this in the reporting end or should I change my rpd design?

Any help would be really appreciated.

      Regards,
