How to verify the syntax of a new ipf.conf file?

    Sascha Ziemann

I bought "Solaris 10 Security Essentials". In that book it is written that I can check the syntax of the ipf.conf file by running the command ipf /etc/ipf/ipf.conf. But when I run that command I get an usage error:

      # ipf /etc/ipf/ipf.conf
      usage: ipf [-6AdDEInoPrRsvVyzZ] [-l block|pass|nomatch|state|nat] [-cc] [-F i|o|a|s|S|u] [-f filename] [-T <tuneopts>]

I am using the following version:

      # ipf -V
      ipf: IP Filter: v4.1.9 (592)
      Kernel: IP Filter: v4.1.9
      Running: yes
Log Flags: 0 = none set
      Default: pass all, Logging: available
      Active list: 1
      Feature mask: 0x107

What is the right command to verify the syntax of an ipf configuration file?
