Its not clear to me what you mean, against a 10g R2 database or in a 10g R2 App Server.
The answer to both questions however is no. 6i of Forms & Reports has not been certified against or in either.
It seems like somebody should make an announcement on this forum when a patch comes out. Since nobody has, maybe I will.
thanks for this response and the info. Good to know, that the patch really exists.
I have patched my developer 6i with patch 18 and when I install oracle XE 10G
I notice 2 side effects:
1st: Every tool contained in Developer Suite (Forms, Reports, SQLplus etc..) Crashes when I try to connect to Oracle XE..
2nd: When I try to connect to other remote databases earlier versions (v8, v9...) Forms and Reports can not connect simultaneously... and I get a TNS error !!!
Forms 6i& Reports 6i are not compatible with Oracle 10g R2. They just compatible Oracle 10g R1 after installed patch 17&18. But Oracle 10g R2 is not support. Look at below.
1. What is the range of supported combinations between Oracle Forms 6i and Database Servers 8
.1.7 to 10.2?
1. Please See "Note 340215.1 - Required Support Files (RSF) in Oracle Forms
Required Support Files are the set of files which are "required" to communicate
using SQL*Net and access the Oracle database. The RSF is sometimes referred to
as the Oracle Client, however the RSF is only a portion of an Oracle Client
Products like Forms and Reports are designed based on that database's
architecture. This means that if a product like Forms or Reports uses RSF
version 8.0.6, it will be limited to the functionality which was available in
the 8.0.6 database regardless of the database version to which you are
Reports&Forms 6i (6.0.8) are built upon the 8.0.6 architecture, as you can see
in the table in the Note.
So, at this point, we can consider Oracle Reports&Forms 6i to be a Oracle
If you check the "Note 207303.1 Client / Server / Interoperability Support Between Different Oracle Versions", you will see that Client Version 8.0.6 was s
upported to work with DB servers 8.1.7, 9.0.1 and 9.2.0, but it was never suppor
ted to work with DB servers 10.1 and 10.2.
You need to make sure your database charater set is not set to AL32UTF8 or you will get an error when you try to connect.
You can try the following line when connected to the target database, shutdown and restart after.
ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET INTERNAL_USE UTF8;
Metalink Note 236231.1 describes what character sets will not work.
You do not have support for Forms and Reports 6i.
Though We have our product migrated to Forms & Reports 10g, we are currently running our older version of the product (Forms6i Patch 16& Reports6i Patch 16) with Oracle Database 10g R2 without any problem.
Hope you were looking for this information.
Though I strongly recommend to move to the new release.
This looks promising, how about forms6i (patch18) with 10G release 2 x64 database? (client/server)
Has anyone use this combination, running forms6i connecting to a 64bit 10G release 2 database?
We're planning to upgrade from 10G release 1 due to memory resource issues on the 32bit.
