HELP.... I am new to Oracle and SQL.. I cannot login as root user on a MAC

Please help.. 

I am new to oracle and SQL, I need to get a connection so that i can test creating a database and tables, but the system keeps denying me..

I changed my MySQL Root users password, but now it doesn't let me login..

I am on a MAC  10.10 and would love a little help getting started.

I am also looking for someone to train or do the initial database creation..

If anyone can assist, I would be very grateful.
