Please find the version below :

        [grid@storage 11gr2grid]$ uname -r

        2.6.32-431.el6.x86_64

Regarding Devices I already created that before and this is the steps that i have created for devices :

        1. I created a six partition for /sda7 , /sda8 , /sda9, /sda10 , /sda11 and /sda17. Total 6 Partition where I was planning for 3 for ASM and 3 for FRA. please find the screen shot below :

        partition.png

After creating above 6 partition then I typed following command

        raw /dev/raw/raw1 /dev/sda7

        raw /dev/raw/raw2 /dev/sda8

        raw /dev/raw/raw3 /dev/sda9

        raw /dev/raw/raw4 /dev/sda10

        raw /dev/raw/raw5 /dev/sda11

        raw /dev/raw/raw6 /dev/sda17

        chown -R oracle:oinstall /dev/raw

        chmod 770 /dev/raw

        chmod 660 /dev/raw/raw*

        OUTPUT AFTER CREATING RAW

        [root@storage ~]# ls -l /dev/raw

        total 0

        crw-rw---- 1 oracle oinstall 162, 1 Dec 29 08:29 raw1

          Aman....

I shall suggest that you use ASMLIB for the permissions and owernship of the devices. RAW command is not going to work out properly if I am remember correctly in version 6 of Linux(you seem to be on 6.5 EL). ASMLIB comes preinstalled wit the latest Linux distros.

            Hi Aman,

I tried whole day installing driver for ASMLIB but i could not succeed. I could not find the exact version for Rhel6. This is what I was following through.

Below is what I have got (FAILED STATUS). That was occurred because of not installing proper lib.

            [root@storage yum.repos.d]# /etc/init.d/oracleasm configure

Configuring the Oracle ASM library driver.

This will configure the on-boot properties of the Oracle ASM library

driver.  The following questions will determine whether the driver is

loaded on boot and what permissions it will have.  The current values

will be shown in brackets ('[]').  Hitting <ENTER> without typing an

answer will keep that current value.  Ctrl-C will abort.

Default user to own the driver interface [oracle]: oracle

Default group to own the driver interface [oinstall]: oinstall

Start Oracle ASM library driver on boot (y/n) [y]: y

Scan for Oracle ASM disks on boot (y/n) [y]: y

Writing Oracle ASM library driver configuration: done

              Ujjwal,

I believe you are trying all this on your test machine, correct? If yes, please use Oracle's own Enterprise Linux available at https://edelivery.oracle.com/linux. I have been using it from  a very long time. It is completely free and has full support for all the RPM's etc. I don't use RedHat anymore so I won't be of any help for the same but I shall strongly recommend that you switch over to Enterprise Linux of Oracle.

Yes you are right I am using test machine. I went through oracle cloud url and have selected oracle linux. Since this is my first time i am installing ORACLE own's Enterprise Linux, Kindly Please let me know if I am following the right track. Also Is there any url you would like to recommend for the installation purpose ?? Will continue only after your confirmation.

Yeah, it's the correct portal. For the help in the installation , you can always refer to http://oracle-base.com/articles .For example, for 11.2, you may refer to ,

                  https://oracle-base.com/articles/11g/oracle-db-11gr2-installation-on-oracle-linux-6

In case, you would need to select the additional RPM's to be installed, EL offers free access to public YUM. You can refer my blog post for the same,

                  Playing With Free Yum….

It would work fine once you have set up proper permissions using the ASMLIB. Do let us know about the progress. The website of Tim Hall has plenty of information that you can use to go through with the Grid installation.

                        Hi Aman,

Instead of downloading 6,x version I downloaded the latest one ORACLE LINUX 7.2.0. I am planning to re-download the Oracle LINUX 6.X version again. Due to low internet speed it will take whole day to download all the iso file or is it ok if i installed ORACLE LINUX 7.2.0. What do you recommend ? Please advise.

                          Ujjwal,

There isn't any issue as such. 6.5 is something which I have been using personally on all my VM's . I had installed  EL7 and didn't like it much. Unless you are planning to use something that's really native to EL7, it's fine to be with EL6 IMO.

                          Please proceed with the installation.

                          Aman....

                            Hi Aman,

I see following  FIVE  ISO FILES under edelivery.or.com website. But my confusion is which ISO should I start with first ? Can you advice which one should I follow first and then the remaining one accordingly. I did understand about DVD 1 and DVD 2 iso but I am confused about V41362-01,  V41363-01 and V41364-01 iso. which one should I follow with first. Here is the ISO FILE information displayed under delivery website.

                            Oracle Linux 6.5.0.0.0 for x86 64 bit

                            Oracle Linux (6.5.0.0.0)

                                V41362-01.isoOracle Linux Release 6 Update 5 for x86_64 (64 Bit)                                        3.6 GB

V41363-01.isoOracle Linux Release 6 Update 5 Boot iso image for x86_64 (64 bit)                 214.0 MB

V41364-01.isoOracle Linux Release 6 Update 5 UEK Boot ISO image for x86_64 (64 bit)        227.0 MB

                                V41365-01.isoOracle Linux Release 6 Update 5 source DVD 1                                              3.0 GB

                                V41366-01.isoOracle Linux Release 6 Update 5 source DVD 2                                              2.0 GB

Since you have already installed 6.5. Can you suggest me like at first which ISO file should I used for the installation and then second which one , third which one, fourth which one and at last ffith which one ?  It will be helpful If you could suggest the name of iso files from above from 1 to 5 accordingly. So that I can go through it likewise :-

                            1,

                            2.

                            3.

                            4.

                            5.

Looking forward to hear from you.
