Why you want to migrate database twice??
1)Migrate the 11i/9iR2 on solaris to OELinux 5 32 bit
2)Upgrade the Database 9i 32bit to Database 22.214.171.124/32bit.
3)Migrate the Database to 126.96.36.199/64bit (new server) on OEL 5 or 6 (split configuration)
I would suggest you to upgrade 9i database on the same server and then migrate it.
X A H E E R
I would suggest you follow this process
- Upgrade database to 11R2 on 188.8.131.52 on operating system X using
Note 881505.1 - Interoperability Notes - Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0)
- Upgrade using upgrade manual.
- Migrate database to operating system Y using
Note 454616.1 Export/Import Process for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 Database Instances Using Oracle Database 10g Release 2
Note 734763.1 Using Transportable Database to migrate E-Business Suite R12 Using Oracle Database 10gR2 or 11g
Attention: The transportable database feature works for platforms with the same endianness. Platforms with different endianness should use other methods of migration such as export/import.
Note 1311487.1 Using Transportable Tablespaces for EBS Release 12 Using Database 11gR2
This cross-platform support of this feature provides improved functionality in distributing data and database migration specifically across platforms of different endian (byte-ordering) formats.
Thanks Xaheer and Pravin for your time and valuable inputs.
"I would suggest you to upgrade 9i database on the same server and then migrate it."
first migration: Yes you are right but we have resource constraint on the Solaris server for this reason i have migrated to linux.
Second migration: as our current Ebiz-11i database is 32 bit thats the reason for second migration.
For the database upgrade/migration, you can upgrade the database to 10.2.0.5 (it does not require much resources on the current server) and then use export/import (datapump) to move the database to 11gR2 or more preferably 12c.
Don't forget to apply all application side interop patches during the database upgrade/migration.
Once the database is migrated, you can start with the installation and upgrade to 12.2 on the new server.
