can delete alert log file?

Hi all,

I got an aix server which is running of out of space for an Logical volume.

My oracle database log file seems to be occupying a lot of space,

can i delet the file and recreate or,i can i move to other logical volume and create a new file

will there be any problem in deleteing the log file

u help is appreciated
