Extended Support Vs Error Correction Support

Jim DeelyApr 6 2016 — edited Apr 7 2016

I am confused about the difference between Extended Support and Error Correction Support for an Oracle DB Version.

In Steven Chan's blog https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/certified_vs_under_ecs he states that new patches and certifications are produced for Oracle Products when they are in Premier or Extended Support and that these two support phases are collectively known as Error Correction Support.

So why then under the certifications tab in MOS is there a difference between Error Correction support and Extended Support

<Moderator Edit - deleted screenshot from MOS - pl do not publicly post such content - it is a violation of your Support agreement>

So if I am planning end dates from an error correction perspective, which date do I use for the 11.2.0.4 database - is it 31-Jan-2018 or 31-Dec-2020 because they seem to contradict one another.
