    Question to Jeff Smith Sqldev Pm-Oracle

    Jhil
      Good Morning Jeff Smith

      SQL- Developer installation on Oracle Linux 5.5

      you can always just get the windows .zip download, extract it to any *NIX folder you want, and run it from there - no RPM dependencies/requirements will apply then

      REF_LINK :  Cannot install any rpms related to SQL Developer

      I was watching some videos , they taught SQL-Developer installation on Linux.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysTK6Wwb4YI

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUAgbwkB5ME

                   Both were installed  sqldeveloper-4*noarch.rpm  but they did not talk about Sqldeveloper.zip

      Following rpm never used  on Oracle Linux 5.5  for  SQL-Developer installation.

      sqldeveloper-4.1.3.20.78-1.noarch.rpm

      My confusion

      After i  installed JDK , as per your suggestion i have  executed  sqldeveloper.sh  from windows zip file (shared with linux os)

      SQL Developer tool has been appeared on Linux machine. If so , what is the purpose of  the file  ---> (sqldeveloper-4.1.3.20.78-1.noarch.rpm)

      If i execute that sqldeveloper*.rpm , i am getting error. What is the alternative way ???

      # rpm -ivh sqldeveloper-4.1.3.20.78-1.noarch.rpm

      error: Failed dependencies:

              rpmlib(FileDigests) <= 4.6.0-1 is needed by sqldeveloper-4.1.3.20.78-1.noarch

      rpmlib(PayloadIsXz) <= 5.2-1 is needed by sqldeveloper-4.1.3.20.78-1.noarch

      thanks.
