Apps password change in non-prod environment

    3245362

      Hi Experts,

I have a scenario where my organizations supports the EBS R12.1.3 PROD environment and NON-PROD is supported by other organizations.

When they need to clone from PROD, we zip the apps directory and send it back to them, while the Database is restored from the tapes.

The challenge here is when they need to run autoconfig or any actions, they would need PROD Apps password, how can we avoid giving them the password, how can they work it out without going everytime into thier system when every they require us and run FNDCPASS to change the apps password and then to remove the history of that entry so the apps password is protected.

Can anyone please help me with the above and guide me.

      Regards,

      Sandy

          Hi,

If the other organization have a clone of the production environment then you can ask them to do the following:

          • Change the APPS password in the cloned environment and give it to you.
          • Export the FND_USER and FND_ORACLE_USERID tables and provide you with the file(s).

          Then do the following:

          • Backup the two tables in your cloned database.
          • Delete all records from the tables.
          • Import the two tables you received from the other organization.
          • Change the APPS password using 'alter user ..' command.
          • Run FNDCPASS to change the APPS password. This will make the necessary changes to the FND tables.
          • Run AutoConfig on apps tier.

          Regards,

          Bashar

            Hi

You can ask them to do the following

            1.Take a backup of FND_USER and FND_ORACLE_USERID table.

2.change the apps and applsys user password using alter command.

            3. then with the new password used in step-2, run FNDCPASS to change the apps password.

            4. Verify it by login through new apps password using sqlplus

4.run autoconfig in db and apps tier.

            Hope this helps.

            thanks

            Samrat
