Cost proposal for EBS R12.1 on OL6

    Beauty_and_dBest

      Hi ALL,

We have customer/client who has requirement for EBS R12.1 on OL6.

I understand OL6 is free right? So the cost proprosal I will submit is for EBS R12.1 only?

Your comments will be highly appreciated.

      Kind regards,

      jc

          Bashar.

Oracle Linux is free but if you want to get support from Oracle then you'll have to pay for annual support. It is optional.

Basically, you should include hardware, EBS license, fees of 1st year of support and implementation cost.

          Regards,

          Bashar

              This is how you plan:

              • 1st Implementation on Physical Servers or VMs. Licensing costs will vary drastically based on this.
              • Perpetual license for Database (RAC,DG,Partitioning,Performance Pack will have additional licensing costs)
              • Middleware (Weblogic or iAS) licensing
              • Oracle EBS modules licensing (Varies a lot based on modules and respective users)
              • Oracle Linux Support Cost

But always work with your Oracle Licensing Account Manager from Oracle Corp.

              Thanks,

              Vishnu

                Thanks ALL

Can I still download Linux patches RPMs, and run "yum install" even if I do not get support?

                Kind regards,

Hi Bashar, Pravin, Vishnu and ALL,

The customer requirement is to migrate their existing EBS R12.1.3 in old servers  (OL5)  to the new servers ( preferrably OL7).

I understand EBS R12.13  is supported in Oracle Linux7?

Their current setup is, they have 4 physical prod servers:

                    Comprised of:

                    a.) Three(3)- Apps Tier Nodes/Servers . 1 Tier each for Major Comapny.

                    b.) One(1) - Database Tier Node/Server - Shared by the  three(3) apps.

Can you help me what are the major activities in migrating EBS R12.1.3 to new servers?

                    1. Prepare the target servers.

                        1.1 Install Linux7 and pre-requisite RPMs.

                    2. Prepare the source servers.

2.1 Run adpreclone for the the nodes.

2.1 Perform cold Backup for all the nodes.

                    3. Copy and process backups to the target servers,

                    4.  Perform database and apps tier cloning.

                    5. Perform complete/thorough application/functional test.

                    6. Load final cut-over production data.

                    What else can you add

                    Kind regards,
