    oracle asmlib

    kmyoong

      HI everyone,

I have some doubt for using asmlib. I setup oracle rac using

           a. oracle grid 12.1

           b. oracle linux 7.2

           c. 2 server nodes

      My node1

      [root@yuna disks]# pwd

      /dev/oracleasm/disks

      [root@yuna disks]#

      [root@yuna disks]# ls -ltra

      total 0

      drwxr-xr-x 4 root root         0 Aug 20 14:17 ..

      drwxr-xr-x 1 root root         0 Aug 20 14:17 .

      brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 8, 49 Aug 20 14:17 VOL1

      brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 8, 81 Aug 20 14:17 VOL3

      brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 8, 97 Aug 20 14:17 VOL4

      brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 8, 65 Aug 20 14:17 VOL2

      [root@yuna disks]# oracleasm querydisk /dev/sdd1

Device "/dev/sdd1" is marked an ASM disk with the label "VOL1"

      [root@yuna disks]#

      [root@yuna disks]# oracleasm querydisk /dev/sde1

Device "/dev/sde1" is marked an ASM disk with the label "VOL2"

      [root@yuna disks]#

      [root@yuna disks]# oracleasm querydisk /dev/sdf1

Device "/dev/sdf1" is marked an ASM disk with the label "VOL3"

      [root@yuna disks]#

      [root@yuna disks]# oracleasm querydisk /dev/sdg1

Device "/dev/sdg1" is marked an ASM disk with the label "VOL4"

      My node2

      [root@tidus disks]# pwd

      /dev/oracleasm/disks

      [root@tidus disks]#

      [root@tidus disks]# ls -ltra

      total 0

      brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 8, 49 Aug 20 14:17 VOL3

      brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 8, 65 Aug 20 14:17 VOL1

      brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 8, 97 Aug 20 14:17 VOL4

      brw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 8, 81 Aug 20 14:17 VOL2

      drwxr-xr-x 4 root root         0 Aug 20 15:22 ..

      drwxr-xr-x 1 root root         0 Aug 20 15:22 .

      [root@tidus disks]#

      [root@tidus disks]#

      [root@tidus disks]# oracleasm querydisk /dev/sdd1

Device "/dev/sdd1" is marked an ASM disk with the label "VOL3"

      [root@tidus disks]#

      [root@tidus disks]# oracleasm querydisk /dev/sde1

Device "/dev/sde1" is marked an ASM disk with the label "VOL1"

      [root@tidus disks]#

      [root@tidus disks]# oracleasm querydisk /dev/sdf1

Device "/dev/sdf1" is marked an ASM disk with the label "VOL2"

      [root@tidus disks]#

      [root@tidus disks]# oracleasm querydisk /dev/sdg1

Device "/dev/sdg1" is marked an ASM disk with the label "VOL4"

      1. is it normal why node1 tag /dev/sdd1 as VOL1 but node2 tag /dev/sde1 as VOL1 ?

      2. actually VOL1 in both nodes are point to same physical disk although their device name not same?

      2. if i want device name all same in all nodes, i have to use udev first then after that use asmlib to create asmdisk ?
