Can you post your query and explain what you've tried, the result you get and the result you expect.
pls help, I want to select distinct columns from another table together with the main query.
this is because when I joined the two tables together, there are more than one records for every record of the main query and there is no column to join it to on the second table.
You use the DISTINCT keyword to remove duplicate rows.
But in Oracle you get distinct 'rows' not 'columns'.
And you first said you joined two tables together but then said there is no column to join the second table to.
sorry for the concussion, I joined the 2 tables on 3 common fields (no primary or foreign keys defined on these table) but the second table is returning more than one rows for every first table.
The problem is that I can't find any common field to get rid of other rows from this second table to make it unique and return just a row for both tables.
Well you are going to have to post sample data (as few rows as possible) that shows what you are getting and what you want.
