Have you tried a TNS conection instead of Basic ? If using basic, are you sure your db is listening on the default port of 1521 ?
Yes. I have tried TNS connection. But getting the same issue. The listener is set on 1521. I tested with explicit host and port combination from sql plus. And that worked. But from SQL Developer it's giving error. Will this be anyway related to firewall. I have opened port 1521.
When trying TNS, does it populate the dropdown with the list of DB aliases ?
Also, you can check tools/preferences/db/advanced and try using the OCI client (which both toad and sql+ are using, whereas sqldeveloper defaults to plain jdbc)
Yes. its getting populated from dropdown.
I have selected the checkbox
Use Oracle Cleint
Use OCI/Thick driver.
But still the issue persists.
Does the db you want to connect to appear in that dropdown ?
Do you know if you are using LDAP/OID ?
If you have a full OCI client installed (as opposed to the instant client), please post the result of "tnsping $YOUR_DB_ALIAS"
And just to be sure: you got sql+ working from the same client PC where sqldeveloper cannot connect, right ?
You have to SHOW US:
1. WHAT you do
2. HOW you do it
3. WHAT results you get
I tried to install oracle client and set the developer property to connect via client. Even though facing the same issue.
I am able to connect via sql plus as well as toad.
Neither of those 'show' anything. Please post the info needed to try to reproduce the problem.
