at some point, someone will ask why they can't just type in that window and then rebuild their view...wouldn't you be more comfortable if you just copy and pasted the code to a sql worksheet?
Then why change the current behaviour at all ? Keeping it read-only is perfectly fine and reasonable, and any change would have to be made from a worksheet as previously, alright. All i am asking for is for a double-click to automatically highlight occurrences of the selected item (which btw already works but requires an extra Ctrl-F).
I have often had to cut and paste from that tab to a worksheet just to better understand complicated views, With better searchability available right there one would not have to do that anymore (and 4.2EA is already an improvement). That actually avoids the risk of inadvertently running the code in the worksheet and potentially invalidate something.
Those are reasonable ERs. Implemented:
1. Double click onto a word highlights all occurrences
2. Ctrl click onto a word opens object editor
3. Shift F4 opens popup describe
Item #3 functionality existed since 2008, but has been apparently broken.
P.S. There is subtle difference between highlighting all word occurrences with ctrl-F and double click. The former is blind substring matching, while the later one is aware of lexical structure, as it won't highlight the matches in the comments and string literals.
That is great news, thanks Vadim !
