    Patch relink error - EBS R12.1.1

    Beauty_and_dBest

      Hi ALL,

      EBS R12.1

      OL6

      I have installed New VIS instance for EBS R12.1.1

      I downloaded the installer from edelivery.com.

      Then I want to upgrade it to R12.1.3.

      The following upgrade patches required:

      * Patch 9239089

      * Patch 9239090

      * Patch 9239095

      * Patch 9817770

      * Patch 9966055

      I am applying the first one 9239089 which is a small patch.

      But I got relink error

      Disk had big free space:

      Size  Used Avail Use% Mounted on

      1.9T  1.1T  731G  60% /u01

      and app user applvis1 has read/write/execute permission on bin folders.

              Hi jc,

              Please post the adrelink.log file from the patch failure. There is a step in the 12.1.1 installation guide for editing adrelinknew.sh which I provided to Oracle that should resolve this.

              Regards,

              Michael

                Where is that adrelink log location again? I thought it is the one I posted above

                I am confused with lots of logs end EBS, like a thousand the seemed to be.

                Kind regards,

                  It is mentioned in your screenshot clearly at the end.

                  Please upload adrelink.log as well RDA to know more about failures.

                          Hi Shaik and ALL,

                          I followed the docs above, but I still got relink error

                          After installation, users must update the stub libraries in the 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 Oracle Homes using the patch 12415211. In following the instructions below, please note that Opatch should not be used to install this patch.

                          Users must specifically copy the files in the patch to the specified directories as follows for the 10.1.2 Oracle Home:

                          $ cd <12.1_INSTALL_DIR>/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/lib
                          $ cp -p -R stubs stubsORIG
                          $ cd stubs
                          $ cp <PATCH_INSTALL_DIR>/12415211/files/lib/stubs/libgcc_s-2.3.2-stub.so .
                          $ ln -s libgcc_s-2.3.2-stub.so libgcc_s.so.1
                          $ ln -s libgcc_s.so.1 libgcc_s.so

                          After this is done and sourcing the APPS<CONTEXT_NAME>.env file, users should relink all 10.1.2 executables by running the $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/adlnktools.sh script and ensuring that there are now no errors in the make log file output from the script.

                          The instructions for the 10.1.3 Oracle Home are:

                          $ cd <12.1_INSTALL_DIR>/apps/tech_st/10.1.3/lib
                          $ cp -p -R stubs stubsORIG
                          $ cd stubs
                          $ cp <PATCH_INSTALL_DIR>/12415211/files/lib/stubs/libgcc_s-2.3.2-stub.so .
                          $ ln -s libgcc_s-2.3.2-stub.so libgcc_s.so.1
                          $ ln -s libgcc_s.so.1 libgcc_s.so

                          After this, users should relink sqlplus by running the <INSTALL_DIR>/apps/tech_st/10.1.3/appsutil/clone/adlnkweboh.sh script and ensuring that there are now no errors in the make log file output from the script.

                          But I got error relinking

                            Hi jc,

                            Must have followed the steps to patch the stub libraries incorrectly.  Here is how I did it last time on OEL 6:

                            Users must specifically copy the files in the patch to the specified directories as follows for the 10.1.2 Oracle Home:

                            $ cd /lv01/oracle/prod/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/lib

                            $ cp -p -R stubs stubsORIG

                            $ cd stubs

                            $ cp /u01/Download/12415211/files/lib/stubs/libgcc_s-2.3.2-stub.so .

                            $ ln -s libgcc_s-2.3.2-stub.so libgcc_s.so.1

                            $ ln -s libgcc_s.so.1 libgcc_s.so

                            $ cd /lv01/oracle/prod/apps/tech_st/10.1.3/lib

                            $ cp -p -R stubs stubsORIG

                            $ cd stubs

                            $ cp /u01/Download/12415211/files/lib/stubs/libgcc_s-2.3.2-stub.so .

                            $ ln -s libgcc_s-2.3.2-stub.so libgcc_s.so.1

                            $ ln -s libgcc_s.so.1 libgcc_s.so

                            After this, users should relink sqlplus by running the /lv01/oracle/prod/apps/tech_st/10.1.3/appsutil/clone/adlnkweboh.sh script and ensuring that there are now no errors in the make log file output from the script.

                            Regards,

                            Michael

                              Hello,

                              Please check the following -

                              Update the Application Server 10g (10.1.2 and 10.1.3) Oracle Homes (Oracle Linux 6 and RHEL 6 only).  Users must specifically copy the files in the patch to the specified directories as follows for the 10.1.2 Oracle Home:
                              1. cd <12.1_INSTALL_DIR>/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/lib
                              2. cp -p -R stubs stubsORIG
                              3. cd stubs
                              4. cp <PATCH_INSTALL_DIR>/12415211/files/lib/stubs/libgcc_s-2.3.2-stub.so.
                              5. ln -s libgcc_s-2.3.2-stub.so libgcc_s.so.1
                              6. ln -s libgcc_s.so.1 libgcc_s.so
                              7. Try reapplying the patch.

                                Hi jc,

                                I stand corrected.  There was a step for 10.1.2 removed fro the 12.1.1 installation guide because they want you to upgrade to JDK 7 immediately.  Not sure how you can if you cannot apply any patches without relink errors.

                                Removed references to soflink libXtst since we are now recommending upgrade of 10.1.2 JDK to JDK 7 per bug 19377923.

                                Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Installation Requirements for Oracle Linux 5 and Red Hat Linux 5 (Doc ID 564174.1)

                                # mv /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6 /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6.ORG

                                # ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/libXtst.so.6 /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6

                                Once this is done, you can relink after applying the stubs patch successfully on OEL 6.

                                Regards,

                                Michael

                                  Hi JC

                                  Please check the below note where they mentioned the same issues which you are facing.

                                  Whereas this applicable to RHEL/OEL5 still you can try

                                  Oracle Forms Upgrade to 10.1.2.3 fails with error /usr/lib/libXtst.so.6: undefined reference (Doc ID 1120527.1)

                                  Regards
