    Single DB  to RAC

I have Oracle R12.2.5 instance running on DB in one server and apps in one server.

Now we want to make DB with high availiblity. 2 node RAC

What is simple basic steps to achive the same?

I know how to clone, but grid and ASM, need to install ?

Depending on your database version, you will need to follow the steps in one of these docs

          MOS Doc 1453213.1

          MOS Doc 1626606.1

using rconfig you can migrate the your non rac database to rac environment

You just follow the steps metnioned in suggested by Srini

Using Oracle 11g Release 2 Real Application Clusters and Automatic storage management with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 (Doc ID 1453213.1)

Using Oracle 12c Release 1 (12.1) Real Application Clusters with Oracle E-Business Suite Release R12.2 (Doc ID 1626606.1)

              We have multiple options:

              Option 1 - Single-Instance Conversion Using rconfig

Option 2 - RAC to RAC Cloning with grid and ASM Installation

Both options are comfortable but i felt Option 2 - RAC to RAC Cloning with grid and ASM Installation is much more error free than option 1.

I followed the below steps to achieve the same.

              1) OS Installation as like Source - Eg: OEL6 U5 (64bit)

              2) Grid Infrastructure Installation using Clusterware

              3) ASM Disk Group added

              4) Oracle Database 12c Software Installation using Clusterware

              5) Oracle Database 12c Example CD Installation using Clusterware

              6) Oracle 12c Database Creation using DBCA using Clusterware

              7) Then follow RAC to RAC Cloning steps as shown below:

              Step 1: Create a password file on both Node1 & Node2

Step 2: Create pfile for the cloned environment (Node1)

Step 3: Remove default controlfile/datafile/onlinelog/tempfile which was created during the installation

Step 4: Modify the init file to comment out all cluster related parameters viz. cluster_database, instance_number, instance_name etc.

Step 5: Copy the source backup files to new node

Step 6: startup nomount for RAC database

              Step 7: Create duplicate database

Step 8: Shutdown the DB & update the current control file

              Eg: *.control_files='+DATA/uat/controlfile/Current.438.923829531'

Step 9: create spfile from pfile

              Step 10: Start RAC database
