There is nothing similar to the preinstall RPM for Windows or any other non-development platform for EBS. You will need to install Cygwin/MKS, Visual Studio, gnumake and the c++ runtimes manually on Windows.
Supposing I have a stand alone windows server, in which I installed all the pre-reqs (Cygwin/MKS, Visual Studio, gnumake and the c++ runtimes).
Then I do "cold" backup my source EBS PROD ins windows server, using 7zip c:\oracle.
Then I copied the backup to my standalone server and unzip it to the same location c:
Assuming my standalone server has the same hostname with the source.
Will my EBS target able to startup automatic and run? without any tweakings or manual changes?
We required the Visual studi, gnumakle and MKS tool kit or cygwin as suggested by Mr. Michael to install EBS on Windows
Please check the below notes
Oracle E-Business Suite Installation and Upgrade Notes Release 12 (12.2) for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) (Doc ID 1330706.1)
Yes Shaik, that is what I said
Assuming I installed all the pre-reqs (Visual studio, gnumakle and MKS tool kit or cygwin, etc).
Will my cold backup run rightaway after unzipping?
In linux, I tested restoring to a new formatted server, in which same server name and OS are installed and all RPMs pre-reqs.
When I unzip the backup on it, the EBS instance was startup up rightaway. Good test model for disaster recovery.
1. you want to restore the backup on same server , after format os [where you will install all pre-req softwares and same ip and hostanme]
If you have registery backup then restore it and relink the binaries
Please check the below thread
2. You want to restore PROD cold backup on test server where you installed mks cygwin visualstudio
Yes it will work , run the post clone
So the difference in Linux is it does not have registry.
Registry seems very hard to manage for windows?
