    Context Name and Context File

    #MVivek

      Hi Experts,

      Normally,

      DR Server:

      bash-3.2$ echo $CONTEXT_FILE

      /orabin2/oracle/PROD/fs1/inst/apps/PROD_egldrfidb01/appl/admin/PROD_egldrfidb01.xml

      bash-3.2$

      bash-3.2$

      bash-3.2$

      bash-3.2$ hostname

      EGLDRFIDB01

      bash-3.2$

      bash-3.2$

But in our production server, I have found it as..

      Production Server:

      bash-3.2$ echo $CONTEXT_FILE

      /orabin2/oracle/PROD/fs1/inst/apps/PROD_eglprodfidb/appl/admin/PROD_eglprodfidb01.xml

      bash-3.2$

      bash-3.2$

      bash-3.2$

      bash-3.2$ hostname

      EGLPRODFIDB01

      bash-3.2$

      bash-3.2$

      Please explain...

      Thanks

      Vivek

          can you check out this.

          echo $CONTEXT_NAME

            Kanda-Oracle,

Yes, I have checked that one, you can see in my post body.

But I got the directory nomenclature is different from Oracle standard naming convention.

            bash-3.2$ echo $CONTEXT_FILE

            /orabin2/oracle/PROD/fs1/inst/apps/PROD_eglprodfidb/appl/admin/PROD_eglprodfidb01.xml

            bash-3.2$

Where hostname is EGLPRODFIDB01 and SID is  PROD.

PROD_eglprodfidb directory name should be PROD_eglprodfidb01.

            Thanks

            Vivek

                  Hi Vivek,

Can you clarify did you modify (directory name) during installation or later.

                  Thanks

No. I did not modify. It is in Production and I joined the company on Feb'2017.

While checking, I got this one and updated in the community.

While cloning faced the issue, as given below -

                    bash-3.2$ pwd

                    bash-3.2$

                    bash-3.2$

                    bash-3.2$ perl adpreclone.pl dbTier

This error can usually cause due to Incorrect settings in Context file especially domain related parameters. You could verify if those values are correct. Also you could run RDA for health check for the instance

                        Hi Jibu-Oracle,

                        Please check above comments.

                        Yes..

And error is resolved by selecting the correct directory.

But question is how, it is different from Oracle Standard.

                        Here, Context file -

                        bash-3.2$ echo $CONTEXT_FILE

                        /orabin2/oracle/PROD/fs1/inst/apps/PROD_eglprodfidb/appl/admin/PROD_eglprodfidb01.xml

                        bash-3.2$

                        bash-3.2$

                        And Context name -

                        bash-3.2$ echo $CONTEXT_NAME

                        PROD_eglprodfidb01

How the red colored directory name is change and it's working very fine.

Though the directory name should be, PROD_eglprodfidb01 as my SID=PROD and hostname=eglprodfidb01.

                        Thanks

                        Vivek
