      Hi ALL,

      EBS 11i

      RHEL4

      Oracle Db 9i

We are have VM image backup of our PROD server.

The we copy the VM image to another server, such that we have identical copy of our PROD instance.

On the cloned target server we changed host IP and hostname.

      The I run

      $ cd [RDBMS ORACLE_HOME]/appsutil/clone/bin
      $ perl adcfgclone.pl dbTier

I changed on database name to "frozen", and all the rest are the same.

      But I got error:

The new database context file has been created :

        /ora/prod/proddb/9.2.0/appsutil/frozen_frozen.xml

Please check at OS level is temp files available

          ls -lrt /ora/prod/proddata/TEMP2.dbf

          ls -lrt /ora/prod/proddata/temp03.dbf

          Regards

            Thanks Shaik,

How can I be l missing when it is a VM image of the PROD server?

I can not access it now because  we have also another issue. The cloned VM imaged affected our PROD , out PROD got hanged or down, whenever the VM imaged is up.

Is there any reason why the two do not co-exist?  The cloned VM was given different IP and hostname. But why it did it affect our PROD instance?

            Please help.....

            Kind regards,

The temp files are not part of backup. You may recreate temp files manually . Need to review the actual error from ApplyDBTier_08010503.log for details

                Thanks Jibu,

Okay I will check the log. but right now the VM is down because it is affecting our PROD???

Do you have any wild idea what causing it?

It is an entire copy or an image of the PROD server put into VM. So it must have included the temp dbfs?

We are duplicating the PROD server as is, to another VM.

                  Hi jc,

Since you are having issues, I recommend you recreate the control files and change the db name, recreate TEMP, then immediately run fnd_conc_clone.setup_clean in order to clear out the entries in APPLSYS.FND_TNS% tables.  Otherwise, autoconfig will use these connections to build sql connections to the database but they still point to your current production when you try to run adcfgclone.pl when failures happen.

Also check /etc/hosts to ensure it points correctly to the new frozen host.

There should be more errors before the creation on the temp tablespace.  It appears rapid clone was still using your prod locations.

                  Regards,

                  Michael

                    Thanks Michael,

I forgot how to  recreate the control file and the tasks that comprises with it in accordance to EBS cloning

Is there a blog sample that does it which I can follow?

                    Kind regards,

                      Hi Michael and ALL,

There seems to be conflicting concurrent manager FND process with the VM PROD and the VM image clone.

Since I am using the same user as "applprod" and "oraprod" on both servers, could this be the cause of the issue?

Does creating another owner on the target machine VM image like "appltest" and "oratest" helped?

Then I will change the ownership of the folders? to "appltest" and "oratest".

                      Kind regards,
