Inbound SAML SSO for PeopleSoft

KrewatAug 3 2017 — edited Aug 3 2017

Is there any solution out there that allows inbound SSO to a PeopleSoft instance using an external SAML server?

In other words, PeopleSoft is the SP (Service Provider) and the IDP is an external server.

I've read multiple documents from Oracle saying that they do not support inbound SSO, so I understand Oracle's point of view on this.

However, maybe there are third-party or open-source solutions for this?

Thanks for any info in advance. Even if it's just to tell me "nope, ain't happening!"

Oracle's officially supported SP/IdP solution is Oracle Identity Suite/federation. The way I understand it is that you configure Oracle HTTP Server (apache derivative) in front of PeopleSoft, and then use a mod that performs the SAML SSO.

Many higher education institutions have setup Shibboleth with PeopleSoft, using a similar approach (apache with mod_shib) and then performing the SetAuthenticationResult in Signon PeopleCode using based on headers passed to PeopleSoft through the trusted authentication between shib and Apache.

Another, vendor-built SSO that supports SAML is GreyHeller's ERP Firewall SSO. It supports a variety of IdP's: GreyHeller announces Shibboleth & SAML SSO for PeopleSoft

There are a few options in the space now, I'd be more than happy to discuss. Feel free to reach out.
