    File encoding question

    1008730

To load one file to FDMEE, I'm changing the File Character Set under the User Setting to UTF-16LE. To load another file, I'm changing the File Character Set to UTF-8.

Without modifying the encoding in the file, is there a way to automate the file character set by location or others? Or this has to be done outside of the system? How do people usually solve this problem? Thank you!

The obvious choice would be have your source systems provide you one consistent file type encoding.

Notably a few folks, including the well known Fransisco A, have done write ups on file encoding with FDMEE.

You may want to Google [FDMEE File Encoding] and you will get quite a few hits on how this can be handled.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Thank you. It seems the suggestion is to convert the encoding in the file.

Do we know if we can set up different character set per import format on 11.1.2.4?

Firstly as mentioned once You may want to Google [FDMEE File Encoding]( belief is you  have already review the Oracle FDMEE documentation) and you will get quite a few hits on how your requirement  could be handled based on how the FDMEE software is designed.

If you believe the software should be future updated the you can certainly open an Oracle SR an raise an enhancement request . Do let members of the board know the enhancement request number in case they want to file under it also.
