Type a query in a fresh worksheet, say the following simple one:
SELECT level AS idx
FROM dual CONNECT BY
level <= 10;
All is well. Now surround your query with double quotes(like the ones that get saved to XLSX):
"SELECT level AS idx
level <= 10;"
Start moving your cursor around, within the second query - under WIn7 at least odd things happen (blanking lines/characters, cursor out-of-sync, etc), basically rendering the worksheet unusable.
Probably another manifestation of SQL File Edit bug (17.3 Win64) , perhaps this can serve as a simpler test case.
Your suspicion is correct. This regression was immediately fixed (a couple days ago) for 17.4 and seems to warrant posting an updated 17.3 release after additional testing. Stay tuned.
