The Version option under the Application Properties is required but, you can enter a "blank space" and nothing will be displayed.

I find that irritating indeed, especially since I usually want to get the version from a table, not hard coded in an application property.
Anyway, you can also modify your page templates and remove #APP_VERSION# from the footer
Thank you for Mr DIAZ and INOL .
What InoL said is the much better approach. Using a blank in the APP_VERSION is not recommended.
Having an application version is very useful. Even if you don't want to see it on the screen.
btw. I personally like that the app version is on each screen. And I defend that also against users how want it removed.
If an end user sends you a screen shot then you know from it, which version this screenshot is from.
Helps tremendously during/after rollouts of new versions.
But I also think the default display of it should be a little less obvious.
if you want to get application version from a table, you can use a standard (application) item substitution like this &G_APP_VERSION.
Thank you Sven W and Pavel_p for all your recommendations
