i totally agree, no one should be able to rate his/her own thread.
But don't worry, i think nobody cares anyway about these ratings.
btw to rate my threads only 5 stars are not enough ;-))
You are correct, the original questioner should not be able to rate their own thread, as it makes no sense. We already have an idea to request it be changed...
I am not worried , i was just sharing my observations. It is upto team to act/ignore on it.
BTW, i thought this would be ignored. Appreciate your reply
If I knew about Oracle JET then I likely would have... but alas it is not the case.
Nothing here would be ignored Ajay Taneja
We monitor everything and try to implement as much as possible .Keep posting if you find any issues in commnity thats what this space is for
Which technical thread you are talking about ?
The one in the original post here Chitra.
I was referring to the post i did on Oracle Jet SpaceNot able to load Oracle Jet in Node JS Windows 10
It has been couple of hours, it appears Jet Space isn't as active as others are, i am still awaiting for a response.
You are right it should not work that way .Users should not rate their own thread .I will file it as a bug .
It's very easy to bypass such limitation by login in as another user. However, if the author of a post would like to have ratings by other people, I think the initial rating can set some incentive. Some people are more inclined to point out information that they consider incorrect when such information is proclaimed as correct or useful. Some people are more likely to disagree than to agree. At least that's what I do, giving my own post 5 stars, in the hope someone will disagree and down-rate.
People are less likely to go to the effort of creating another account to bypass such a limitation, as there is no points or award gained from the rating. People just tend to do it because it's there in front of them when they are posting the question. I strongly suspect that if OP's couldn't rate their own question then they wouldn't go to any bother to bypass it and then it would just be up to other members to rate it.
Sure, I can see that by their rating it high, it may set a precedent for other members to down-rate it if they don't agree, but then it depends on how many people take part as to how much it would truly end up correcting it to a proper rating. I think it would simply be better if the OP couldn't rate it in the first place.
Ratings are not only for discussions, but also for blogs and documents. What is the problem if people rate their own posts? There is no way to prevent it anyway and it's the lesser evil than making people log in as another user and have them leave some great feedback as well.
Even if they are for blogs, document. I find it tough to understand why i should be allowed to rate my things, in general i feel no one will rate themselves LOW. If there is some KPI Oracle make like to do and evaluate in future which is there top most rated discussion/blog or lets say sort by this feature for end user to search then the result which will appear may not be realisitic, i am being too futuristic
I am not trying to debate or pro long this thread, but may be experts/dev working on it may have a better clarity
