Oracle not allow replace CPU on this system ( In case fault - board with CPU should be replaced).
Oracle not allow CPU upgrade for this system. ( Only whole system upgrade).
So official doc do not clear required steps.
You can try upgrade FW and check FRU status and logs on server.
What CPU was installed, what is new CPU, what P/N of System Board ?
I would suggest you to check from ilom, 'show faulty' and 'show disabled'.
If anything is disabled or any fault is listed then i would suggest you to log an SR with Oracle.
Else, would suggest you to check if you are using LDOMs, and remaining cores are either unused or assigned to some guest LDOMs.
Could you check your having the System Firmware 8.4.2.d/higher ? on the host .
We only replaced the CPU with an 8-core CPU based on the part number stamped on the CPU.
ILOM reports the total number of cores as 4 and the enabled_cores as 4.
Is there a firmware or ILOM setting to change the number of cores?
We have system firmware 8.8.x.x.x
I don't think that it shows 4 cores in ILOM.
Please check, below command from ILOM, to see state of cores available.
-->show -l all type=='CPU Core' current_config_state -t
This will display existing state of CPU cores in tabular form. If anything is disabled, then you need to open an SR with Oracle to investigate why it is disabled?
--> show -l all type=='CPU Core' current_config_state -t did not work
-> show -l all type=='CPU Core' component_state -t showed
What is the part number of the MB (8-core system)
show /SYS/MB fru_part_number
You can't upgrade only the CPU in the CMT systems. The whole MB needs to be replaced with the 8-core embedded P/N.
How did you procure the part ? Was it oracle provided ?
If it is a 8 core MB, but with 4 core visible in the ILOM and in the POST, then probably half of the cores are disabled in the factory during testing. However the part number is not modified.
This is very unlikely, however it needs further investigation.
You need to log a service request to have this issue analyzed by oracle.
