EBS R12.2.6: Step by step procedure to move from a single node to a split architecture

    3342157

      Hello EBS Gurus,

We have a customer who currently runs their EBS R12.2.6 live system on a single node i.e. db and apps tier hosted on the same server. They are in the process of acquiring a new server due to performance issues and thus we would like to split the architecture to run the db tier on one server and the application tier on the second server.

Please could someone kindly share the step by step procedure of how to achieve this?

      Thanks in advance.

      Best regards,

      Edwin

If the new server is better than the old server and you are still within license compliance for database cores, I recommend moving the database to the new server, then nobody has to change any saved URLs they have for the application.

You can use Rapid Clone to move to the new server.  Run preclone on the DB tier, shutdown the database, copy the database Oracle Home and datafiles to the new server.  Then run perl adpreclone.pl dbTier on the new server and autoconfig on the patch fs, then run fs.  This should fully populate fnd_tns objects and reregister the database with the applications.  You should see an entry for database server and application server in fnd_nodes now.
