    Upgrade database 10.5.0.3   to  12c

    Beauty_and_dBest

      EBS 12.0.6

      10.2.0.3

      OL6

      Hi ALL,

I want to upgrade our database from 10.2.0.3 to 12c (12.1.0.2)

I understand we need to patch it to 10.2.0.5 to be able to upgrade directly to 12.1.0.2.

But the confusions lies around other patches needed for the EBS system to work along with the database upgrade.

Can you share me blogs how to do this please.

      Kind regards,

      jc

          Hi JC

for OL6 EBS 12.0.6 not certified, let me know exact OS

If its OL5 - 64Bit, yes you need to upgrade first to 10.2.0.5 database and then 12c

You have to apply all ebs patches for 10.2.0.5 database and later ebs patches of 12c

Interoperability Notes EBS 12.0 or 12.1 with RDBMS 12cR1 (Doc ID 1524398.1)

            Hi Shaik and ALL,

for OL6 EBS 12.0.6 not certified, let me know exact OS << OL6.8

I was able to clone EBS 12.0.6  from OL5 backup  to OL6  and it is running now.

Can I do the upgrade from here? I do not have OL5  OS.

I am confused how to do the upgrade?

Do I go to the old deprecated OS (e.g. rhel4, OL5) and install 12c there, then do upgrade?

or bring the backup to latest OS e.g. OL6, OL7 , then install 12c and upgrade the backup from there?

            For example in EBS 11i running on RHEL4 / OL4 , with 9i database.

            1. Can I copy the backup to OL6/OL7 and perform cloning and upgrade?

            or

            2. Perform upgrade it on RHEL4 / OL4, Can 12c supported or be installed on RHEL4?

            Kind regards,

              Hi JC

OL6-64bit  is not certified for EBS R12.0.6 still the clone working fine for you.

Then apply the 10.2.0.5 patch set on 10.2.0.3 database as per below note

Interoperability Notes Oracle EBS 12 with Oracle Database 10gR2 (10.2.0) (Doc ID 812362.1)

Later upgrade the database to 12c as per below note

Interoperability Notes EBS 12.0 or 12.1 with RDBMS 12cR1 (Doc ID 1524398.1)

              Better option is

Clone the current EBS R12.0.6 to Ol5 64bit

Then apply the 10.2.0.5 patch set on 10.2.0.3 database as per below note

Interoperability Notes Oracle EBS 12 with Oracle Database 10gR2 (10.2.0) (Doc ID 812362.1)

Later upgrade the database to 12c as per below note

Interoperability Notes EBS 12.0 or 12.1 with RDBMS 12cR1 (Doc ID 1524398.1)
