            What do you have defined for the HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO parameter in the gateway init file?

            Chances are, the value of this parameter is incorrect.

            Are you attempting to connect using a SQL Server named instance?

            If you are, try changing the SQL*Server configuration to be port based instead of named instances.

            Regards,

            Matt

              I can think of a couple of places the chain could be broken.  You might find this helpful:  The Oracle Transparent Gateway :: edstevensdba

                Hi,

                below is the environment. oracale database :11g

                oracle gateway : 11.1   window  :8 , 64 bit

                sql server 2014:  window 8 64 bit

                below is init file entry.

                HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=[USER-HP]/USER-HP\SQLEXPRESS/UMLEWISDB.MDF

                  The 11.1 version of DG4MSQL is not certified with SQL Server 2014.

                  You would have to use at least version 12.1 of the gateway (with patch #2559986 applied)

                  to be certified with SQL Server 2014.

                  Additionally, the HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO parameter is incorrect.

                  Short explanation of the parameter HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO:
                  It can be configured to use a SQL Server port# or to work with instances:
                  HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=<SQL Server>:<port>//<database>
                  HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=<SQL Server>/<instance>/<database>

                  Regards,

                  Matt

                    where shall I applied patch oracle database or sql server windows?

                    with patch #2559986 applied

                      You would have to use the 12.1 version of the gateway and apply that patch to the gateway.

                          <SQL Server> is the hostname where the SQL Server resides.

                            If the issue still persists, I would suggest posting what you are encountering at this time so others can comment in an attempt to assist you, with your problem.

                            You can also refer to the configuration documentation for the gateway product which explains how to configure the product.

                                Are your attempting to connect to database file (.mdf)?

                                You cannot do that.

                                HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO can be set as follows:

                                HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=<SQL Server>:<port>//<database>
                                HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=<SQL Server>/<instance>/<database>

                                <SQL Server> is the hostname where the SQL Server resides

                                <port> is the port number of the SQL Server (default is 1433)
                                <instance> is the name of a dedicated instance to which you want to connect; leave it blank if your SQL Server setup does not use SQL Server instances (when using a named instance, please make sure the "SQL Browser Service" is started on the Microsoft SQL Server machine)
                                <database> is the name of the database DG4MSQL should connect to; for example Northwind

                                Again, the problem is with the information in your HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO parameter.

                                Matt
