the app is freezing, scripts are taking longer to execute, or the script executing timer isn't working?
I have checked with both JDK 8/9 and app is freezing.
For example we do have create table, which takes let us say 10s to execute, so for these 10s whole app is freezing and we cannot do anything in the app.
create table lots as select * from all_source order by text;
took awhile - please don't run my example in YOUR environment - but in 17.4 with Java 9, the UI was available. I was able to browse another connection tree and open the preferences.
I noticed the same behavior. App is freezing no task progression/feedback as in previous versions. I'm using Instant Client 12.2.
Can we expect a fix soon ?
We also have experienced running a script is hanging in both 17.4 versions we tried.
I had say 100 ALTER TABLE statements, and when running as a script, SQL Developer hung. Task progress bar was frozen. Had to kill SQL Developer.
Until we have a reproducible scenario, there's no 'bug' to fix.
SQL Developer hangs during execution. When it is used Instan Client. After script complete - ok.
With the default settings - no problem.
Windows 10 Pro/ SQL Developer 17.4.0
What version of the instant client?
Please share an example script, or are you saying it's anything executed with F5?
the problem is reproduced
SQL Dev 17.4.0, 17.4.1
I see it..and thanks for bearing with me on this. We're taking a look at it now.
After moving to 18.1 version it seems that it is working fine.
I am using Oracle SQL Developer 18.1 with JDK 1.8 (update 172) and Oracle Instant Client 184.108.40.206.0
and my database version is 12c (220.127.116.11.0)
Does anyone noticed that improvement, too?
It looks like that problem re-appeared in version 18.104.22.168 with JDK 8 (update 172)
so using the same test example mentioned above
for i in 1..100
program hangs and menu is not available and the same problem
with the Task Progress, which should be refreshed every second, but it is refreshed after sql statement is completed.
