It appears that you're missing "dns      IN      A       192.168.56.40" as a host in the forward lookup zone.  I believe the listed "ausuat.com      IN      A       192.168.56.40" may be in error...

Yes, you should also have the "IN      NS      dns.ausuat.com." in the forward lookup zone as well.

          • 2. Re: ANSWER : 0  - DNS RESPONSE ON OL 6.7
            Dude!

IN      NS      ausuat.com       ----------> Here do i need any changes ?

            localhost                       IN      A       127.0.0.1

            ausuat.com      IN      A       192.168.56.40

            rac1                            IN      A       192.168.56.11

What does ausuat.com in your zone records? This doesn't make any sense.

If you change the following it might work.

            IN  NS  dns.ausuat.com

            dns  IN  A 192.168.56.40

Have you added "named" as a service to start on boot?

                    RHEL 6:

                    chkconfig --add named

                    chkconfig named on

                    RHEL 7:

                    systemctl enable named

Personally, I would change: "56.168.192.in-addr.arpa.        IN      NS      dns.ausuat.com."

                            to: "        IN      NS      dns.ausuat.com."

...but...  if it's working, I would say you're good.
