Do I really need Flash to download a document?

linked a document in this thread  16.  Re: Convert lookup codes

I tried to open it but got

This content requires the Adobe Flash Player. Get Flash

This makes no sense especially since it works when I disable JavaScript so the existence of Flash is not checked.

In case Oracle doesn't know: Flash is dead.

          Hi Marcus,

I expect that Oracle knows that flash is dead.

But who told it to the Jive Software ?

I think this flash-viewer for pdf is a part of the community software and we all know that this is not really state of the art.

btw use the download-button, it works without flash.

          regards

As KayK says, the Flash part is the document viewer on the thread, which is part of the Jive community platform, nothing to do with what I've done.  I've just uploaded the PDF, and the community decides to provide a preview of it.

The download link at the bottom of the post works to download it.

From what I understand, Adobe Flash is still supported until 2020, but some of the current HTML 5 browsers are blocking it. You can check your Browser plug-ins and see if it has been deactivated, in which case you could active it.

But, if you scroll down all the white space when opening the link you mentioned, there will be another option to view or download the pdf document. It's just isn't intuitive to scroll down below all the white space considering the the message.
