    Tech upgrade 12.0.6 or 12.1.3  to 12.2.6

    Beauty_and_dBest

      Hi ALL,

When upgrading EBS 12.0.6 or 12.1.3 to  12.2.6 , is the database mandatory to be in archivelog mode or not? or it does not matter?

      Please advise....

      Kind regards,

      jc

          Hi ALL,

          Next question please....

When upgrading EBS 12.0.6 or 12.1.3 to  12.2.6,  I can follow the same tasks (below link) in installing EBS 12.2.6  but use "upgrade" instead of install 12.2.0 core, right?

          Please advise.....

            Hi JC

yes instead of install you have to selct Upgrade filesystem option

and in upgrade screens license type  screen will  not appear remain same

            Regards

              Thanks Shaik,

I check lots of blogs who had tested the upgrade task, from 12.0 or 12.1   to 12.2.x

The database is already upgraded to 12.1.0.2.

The next steps is to upgrade the AppsTier to 12.2.0 + 12.2.x

Can you check if  below is required as tasks to  pre-upgrade to 12.2.0 ?

                  Thanks Shaik,

Is it mandatory that the database is in archivelog mode? or not?

How do I know what Java JRE version has my database?

without archivelog mode reduces the upgrade time and downtime window will be reduced.

                    Java Version -

                    $ cd $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/jre/bin

                    $ ./java -version

                      Thanks Kirushna and ALL,

I did not get that clearly

So it is okay that I turn-off archivelog? and it makes upgrade faster?

What is the recommended version of Java JRE for EBS 12.2.6?

                      [oraprod@ebs ~]$ cd $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/jre/bin

                      [oraprod@tebs bin]$ ./java -version

                      java version "1.6.0_75"

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_75-b13)

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.75-b01, mixed mode)

Why is that I also check our EBS 12.2.7 instance and the java version is the same?

                      [orapsar@ebs1227 ~]$ cd $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/jre/bin

                      [orapsar@ebs1227 bin]$ ./java -version

                      java version "1.6.0_75"

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_75-b13)

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.75-b01, mixed mode)

Is the JRE version above  6?

                        Hi JC

While upgrade we can many transactions will take place so better go with no archivelog mode which reduce the downtime frame defanitely

There is no documents available to state particular jre is stable with R12.27 or R12.2.6 so better go with latest versions certified with R12.2
