    EBS Upgrade Question 1

    Beauty_and_dBest

      EBS 12.1.3  upgrade to 12.2.6

      Hi ALL,

      I noticed that when upgrading 12.1.3 to 12.2.6 , there is no file in 12.1.3 AppsTier, that is being reused or upgraded.

      The whole folder of the AppsTier itself is discarded.

      Meaning the upgrade process is creating  a new  installed 12.2.0 folder and upgrade to 12.2.6.

      To me, it seems that the process is similar or the same as doing a "fresh"  install.

      Because fresh installation is much easier process than upgrading.

      So in this case, can I make a "fresh" install of 12.2.6 and clone only the AppsTier and match it to the counterpart database Tier of the upgraded 12.1.3 instance?

      Please shed lights....

      Kind regards

          Hi jc,

          If you did what you propose, you would have a 12.2 filesystem pointing to a 12.1.3 database, and nothing would work. You must install the upgrade filesystem and complete the upgrade driver to upgrade the 12.1.3 database to the 12.2 level. On cloud environments with slow storage, plan on this upgrade taking 3-4 days.

          Regards,

          Michael

            Thanks Michael,

            So our PROD will have at least 4-day down time during the final upgrade?

            Is this downtime acceptable  to most of the company's management?

            Is there any workaround?

            Kind regards,

              Hi Michael,

              After applying AD and Consolidated Upgrade Patches, I can not login to my apps schema

              The password was changed. What is the reset default password for apps during an AD upgrade patch?

              $ sqlplus apps/apps

                Hi Micheal,

                After applying AD Consolidated Upgrade patches, my APPS schema password was changed

                I can not login as apps/apps now.

                What  default password did the patch change to?

                $ sqlplus apps/apps
