There is an issue we saw in certain VM environments (KVM, QEMU, VMWare Fusion) but not others, nor on bare metal, in which this beta release would reset during early bootup. We've got a fix in for the GA release, and if this is the issue you hit, you can workaround it by adding "-B enforce-prot-exec=off" to the kernel options in grub.
Just tried you solution but did not work.
Just did some debuging and found out that the issue is due to something with acpi_drv.
So now i have put in the grub option the following line -B disable-acpi_drv=true and then i can boot solaris 11.4 refresh2 without any issue.
If you need some more info let me know
Some detail that would help:
- What kind of notebook of this?
- What is the reboot scenario - how far does solaris get before rebooting?
- Are there any relevant logs in /var/adm/messages ?
My notebook is a Dell Precision M4800
Its booting then i get a black screen and then getting an error regarding the ACPI driver and then just reboot
in the /var/adm/messages there is nothing in there of an error
the only thing that i can give now is the following
ul 19 07:47:29 FFPortable unix: [ID 535085 kern.notice] NOTICE: driver acpi_drv disabled
Jul 19 07:47:29 FFPortable acpica: [ID 130936 kern.info] NOTICE: ACPI source type ACPI_RESOURCE_TYPE_EXT_IRQ not supported
Jul 19 07:47:29 FFPortable unix: [ID 190185 kern.info] SMBIOS v2.7 loaded (5627 bytes)
This is off course i disabled it
And in order to help you guys to find out what is going oon i will reboot the laptop again and make a screenshot and put it here
Does the virtio drivers included in beta2? And can we enable x2apic cpu feature to have e1000g work?
Thank you for posting this screenshot.
