You get 'what'?
just extract the zip to a new folder, run the exe, say 'yes' to importing settings from 18.1 when prompted
Hmmm... for some reason the screenshot didn't show. The error message is:
Zip file sqldeveloper-184.108.40.206.1748-no-jre.zip does not contain a bundle manifest in META-INF/bundle.xml.
Ok, so the correct way to do an upgrade would be this then?
1) Unzip the file and run the .exe
2) Choose to import settings from previous installation.
3) Copy/paste the files to the existing installation directory and choose to overwrite.
I'm still not sure why the zip file method doesn't work - or have I misunderstood what that is for?
Unzip the entire archive to a fresh directory - this is now your 'install.'
If that's not working, something got corrupted between download and extract.
I meant I'm unsure why the "install from zip file" option isn't working. I have done the extract, import of settings etc and that seems to have worked. I like to keep my programs in the program files directory, so I previously created c:\program files\sql developer. Would the suggested approach be to sub-folder this by SQLD version number, do an unzip into a new directory on each new release, and then repoint any shortcuts?
Are you using the check for updates, install from local interface?
That's for extensions, only.
The product itself, yes what you said before about putting into directories and updating shortcuts.
