      Hi ALL,

      Diagnosing and Troubleshooting Signal Errors (Doc ID 215601.1)

      +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+

      Constraint Based Optimization: Version : 12.0.0

      MSONEW module: Memory Based Planner

      +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+

      /oracle/appascp/ASCP/fs1/EBSapps/appl/mso/12.0.0/bin/MSONEW

      Program was terminated by signal 11

      Our apps program encountered error when run it.

      Below is the signal:

      Signal 11
      ---------

      - General
        A signal 11 error means that the program core dumped.  When MSONEW fails with signal 11, a core file should be produced in $APPLCSF/log.  Please upload the log file to Metalink.  If no core is produced, the operating system may have core file size set to zero. Issue the following command:

      $ ulimit -a

          core file size (blocks)     100000
          data seg size (kbytes)      unlimited
          file size (blocks)          unlimited
          max locked memory (kbytes)  unlimited
          max memory size (kbytes)    unlimited
          open files                  1024
          pipe size (512 bytes)       8
          stack size (kbytes)         8192
          cpu time (seconds)          unlimited
          max user processes          16127
          virtual memory (kbytes)     unlimited

          The setting of 100000 should be acceptable in most cases.

      ===========================

      Our current ulimit value is:

      [appascp@ebizascp ~]$ ulimit -a

      core file size          (blocks, -c) 0

      data seg size           (kbytes, -d) unlimited

      scheduling priority             (-e) 0

      file size               (blocks, -f) unlimited

      pending signals                 (-i) 191671

      max locked memory       (kbytes, -l) 64

      max memory size         (kbytes, -m) unlimited

      open files                      (-n) 65535

      pipe size            (512 bytes, -p) 8

      POSIX message queues     (bytes, -q) 819200

      real-time priority              (-r) 0

      stack size              (kbytes, -s) 8192

      cpu time               (seconds, -t) unlimited

      max user processes              (-u) 30000

      virtual memory          (kbytes, -v) unlimited

      file locks                      (-x) unlimited

      =====================================

      How do I set core file size to 100000 ?

      Is this done as below?

      /etc/security/limits.conf

      *    hard    nofile    65536

      *    soft    nofile    65536

      *    hard    nproc    65536

      *    soft    nproc    65536

      *    hard    stack    262144

      *    soft    stack    262144

      Do I need to restart the server to take this in effect?

      Please help...

      Kind regards,
