How will the end of support for JRE 1.8 impact Forms?

user11987589Sep 27 2018 — edited Sep 27 2018

Hi there!

We use Forms 11, JRE 1.8 and will embark on an update to Forms 12 very soon.  I read recently that Java 1.8 (JRE and Java Webstart) are no longer going to be supported beginning in 2019.  I am curious what impact that will on Forms 12 deployments.

I have been maintaining our "legacy" Forms applications since version 6 and have been upgrading every 4 years.  I looked at the certification matrix for Forms 12.2 and it says that Java 1.8_131+ works.  Can I assume that when I upgrade to Forms 12 that Java 9, 10, and 11 will work the same way as my stuff does today?

Oh, one other quick question about upgrading to Forms 12 - in-place or out-of-place upgrade - thoughts?  Anyone have an opinion as to which method is best?

Thanks for your insight!
