What you said is correct in present situation. Admin openings are coming down, as some customers moving to Cloud.
But Oracle updated about 11.2 release, and support will continue up to 2030.
So admins will get have future but depends on On-Promise customers.
Best to go with Cloud also or cross skill on other domains along with admin.
After Hyperion 11.2 release on Q3. There is some hope for Infra candidates but It would better If we learn other skillsets too. Either we should move forward with other technology core or into different streams (DataScient, Machine Learning, Big Data) or into Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure). It depends on individual interest.
Some of my friends are working in client place as Full-time employment Infra Admin and getting a good package. We need some luck to be placed in the client place.

Teddd Great question! I actually just did a presentation at ODTUG's Kscope19 conference in Seattle and discussed this very topic as part of my session! Contrary to what everyone says, EPM/Hyperion/Other Infrastructure jobs are dead. Actually, we're busy than we have been in years. But we and you have to adopt to change. The Cloud is just somebody else's computer so there is a lot of opportunity. I'd suggest looking at the Cloud IaaS providers and see what certifications interest you. I've done a lot with OCI in the last year myself and even got certified. We also have certified AWS and Azure engineers. So migration from on-premise to IaaS offerings is a huge opportunity/market right now.
If you're interested in my OCI prep work, I posted a blog on our website and also on the OCI certification community:
Thanks for the great insight and will surely look into the options you suggested.
Let me know if you need any pointers on OCI cert prep. Also - Please let me know what you wind up doing. The Oracle EPM infra world is a very small place, We are always looking at good resources to leverage!!! I'm on LinkedIn. ;-)
