Problems installing oracle developer tools for VS Code

50eaf261-4fe5-4a50-8406-d70a3fbf73bbJun 28 2019 — edited Mar 23 2020

After I install oracle developer tools for VS Code I get the following error:

"Starting client failed. Launching server using command dotnet failed."

If I try to connect to an oracle database i get the following: "command 'extension.oracleconnect' not found OR 'couldn't start client OracleLanguageServer'

I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling. Nothing seems to work. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Keep in mind that WebLogic is a replacement of OC4J in the Application Server stack. What do you intend to use it for ?

We want to migrate from Application server to WebLogic.

Sure, but what kind of environment are you migrating? Custom J2EE application, Oracle Forms, Portal ?

Custom J2EEE Applications and portal.

Windows Environment, Custom J2EE applications and Portal

WebLogic is fine for J2EE. Should be faster than OC4J especially if you use JROCKET.

Assuming that you use Oracle Portal :

The latest Oracle Portal version (11g) utilizes WebLogic. Older versions use OC4J. I'd go for the latest version. Oracle might desupport the 10g version end of 2011.

Thanks,
