ODBC 12.1 VB6 to Oracle 12c; no more error messages, hangs up to the timeout

Since about 1 month we have a database/ODBC error.

      Configuration:

      Server: ORACLE 12.1.0.2

      Client: Windows 7, VB6 SP6, ODBC 12.1 / 12.2 (32-bit)

      The error is characterized by

that no error messages are reported by the ODBC driver.

e.g. Query usually ends with the error:

ORA-01427: single-row subquery returns more than one row

      Our configuration brings however,

an incomplete result set without notification / error message.

e.g. Constraint injuries in inserts are not reported

but the SQL remains active until the timeout (connection hangs).

We found through tests that a new ODBC driver version (instant_client 18.5) is working correct.

Is there a way to get around this error, without complete driver change?

      Regards
