    ADDMULTIPAGEBITMAP : Import PDF

    User534

      Hi All,

We are using ADDMULTIPAGEBITMAP rule to import external PDF documents into policy packets, when rule being used: imbibed documents has less clarity. Let us know if any rule is available to import pdf with more clarity. Thanks.

The AddMultiPageBitmap rule does support a couple of INI settings that might improve the clarity of the generated bitmap.

The [ BitmapLoaders ] INI group has a PDFImportDPI INI setting that controls the resolution of the generated bitmap.

This INI setting defaults to a value of 100 (i.e. produces a 100 DPI bitmap).

If you specify a higher value for this INI setting (e.g. 150, 300), you should see improved clarity of the generated bitmap.

The tradeoff is slower performance and larger output due to the higher resolution bitmap.

The [ BitmapLoaders ] INI group has another INI setting that you might want to consider.

The PDFImportColorDepth INI setting specifies the color depth (bits per pixel) of the generated bitmap.

This INI setting defaults to a value of 8 (i.e. 8 bits per pixel or 256 colors).

If you specify a higher value for this INI setting (e.g. 24 bits per pixel or 16,777,216 colors), you should see improved clarity of the generated bitmap.

Again, the tradeoff is slower performance and larger output due to the greater color depth in the bitmap.

However, if you are printing to a black & white print device, Documaker has to convert the full color bitmap to a mono-color bitmap before printing.

In that case, you may want to set this value to 1 to generate a mono-color bitmap from the PDF (as opposed to the print process converting a full color bitmap).

There is a different process that the AddMultiPageBitmap rule can use to generate a bitmap.

The UseImageExportOnly INI setting can be set to Yes to use this alternative process to generate a bitmap.

You will have to experiment to see which of these methods works best for your situation.
