    OLAP in R12.2 instance

    Ora_Learner

      Hi All,

goal: we want to disable OLAP, but not sure we are using it or not.

we  have Oracle EBusiness Suite 12.2.6 with database 12c, would like to know can we disabled OLAP without affecting the system.

I have gone through following oracle metalink documents, but its not  clear can we disable it or not in my scenario

How To Find Out If OLAP Is Being Used (Doc ID 739032.1)

How to remove the Oracle OLAP Option from a 12c Database (Doc ID 1940098.1)

any body have gone through the above scenario appreciate your helpful response.

      Regards

OLAP is used by several modules in 12.2 EBS.  Why do you want to remove it?  You have a license to have it with your EBS license.

I came to know we don't have license for this reason we want to remove it.

            appreciate your immediate response.

              Hi,

I am licensing expert as well. So first for OLAP, if there are any objects in SYS schema created by default, you need not worry about them.

Also, for any default Oracle EBS objects created during install, you need not pay OLAP license. Check below queries to determine it.

For EBS, you might find these OLAP objects by default:

              FPA                  FPAPJP

              ZPB                  ZPBCODE

              ZPB                  ZPBANNOT

              ZPB                  ZPBDATA

              APPS                 XWDEVKIT

              APPS                 ODPCODE

              1. To check if OLAP option is enabled or not we can do:

              col comp_id format a10

              col comp_name format a30

              col version format a15

              col status format a10

              select comp_id, comp_name, version, status

              from dba_registry

              where comp_name like '%OLAP%';

If it returns STATUS=’VALID’ it means the option is enabled.

              1. To check OLAP DATA

              select owner, aw_name from dba_aws where owner !='SYS';

              Thanks,

              Vishnu

                  Hi,

How to Enable Or Disable the Oracle OLAP option in the Oracle Executable? (Doc ID 1934968.1)

When you disable/enable anything that comes with EBS its always good practice to check on MOS, it will affect support validity

Disabling EBS Database Options - Data Mining, OLAP, Database Vault, Partitioning, Label Security (Doc ID 2205278.1)

Switching off these features will not be supported. Doing so can affect functionality

                    Hello,

Looks fine to me! Also, remember usually EBS default created objects do not impact licensing and also Oracle EBS team doesn't recommend to remove these objects or disable OLAP.

If asnwered, please mark it correct.

                    Thanks,

                    Vishnu

                      Hi Vishnu,

If I have strong instructions to disable the OLAP, can I disable it, how would it impact the system?

Who are your string instructions from? Unless they are from Oracle support, then you shouldn't be doing it. There isn't a licencing implication as already explained - so why do it?

                          Hi,

Raise Oracle SR and if they confirm you can think about it. I doubt if Oracle EBS Support will approve of it. I see no reason to do it now as you don't have license impact now.

                          Thanks,

                              Hi,

Unfortunately there is no such documentation showing that default OLAP objects in EBS need not be licensed. Check the below document. I would recommend to follow this:

                              • Raise SR to confirm if OLAP can be removed. Clearly document says its not supported and let Oracle Support confirm it too.
                              • If Oracle License Audit (LMS) team or third party audit question about OLAP, show them below document and SR.

I have seen several audits and usually default EBS objects, SYS OLAP objects created with Product installation are the least you need to worry about.

                              Thanks,

Frankly. Yes. Its sufficient but if still someone insists then he can take confirmation from Oracle Support.
