    2927857

      Hi All

We are Planning for Peopletools Upgrade from 8.53 to 8.57 and Image Update from FSCM 92 PI 04 to PI 33.

We are not going for in-place upgrade approach.

Brief summary on Infra for current and UPG:

      Current infra :

      PT: 8.53.27

      Application: FSCM 92 PI 04

      Database: MSSQL 2012

      OS: Window 2008 R2

Intermediate Servers(Server1) For CA 8.57 server:

      OS: Window 2016

      Intermediate Servers(Server2) for PT 8.56 (i.e 8.56 CA /8.53 Home) upgrade:

      Database: MSSQL 2012

      OS: Window 2012 R2

      Intermediate Servers(Server3) For PUM server:

      OS: Window 2016

      Upgraded Permanent File/DB servers

      PT: 8.57.06

      Application: FSCM 92 PI 33

      Database: MSSQL 2017

      OS: Window 2016

      Our Upgrade approach will be:

      1. Setup new DB MSSQL 2012 with OS on 2012 R2

      2. Upgrade PeopleTools to 8.56 on 2012 R2 and then migrate to 2016 OS

      3. Upgrade DB to 2017 (With 2016 Windows OS)

      4. Upgrade Tools to 8.57 (With Minimum of 04 patch level) on 2016 OS

      5. Perform Image update till PI33

      Few Questions:

1: Can i use same MSSQL DB 2012 after Initial Pass completion,Will refreshing of Intermediate server(i.e. Intermediate Servers(Server2) for PT 8.56 upgrade) of COP cause any impact as its alresy upgraded to PT 8.56 ?

2: As we had SSL enabled on Load balancer, do i needs to procure new certificates or old certs will be fine ?

3: Our Weblogic is getting changed will Old SSL Certs cause any issue ?

4: i am Planning to Decouple my PS_HOME, and following below approach, will it cause any issue, since tools binaries is deployed via dpk and app via setup binaries ?

         1: Deploy PS_HOME via DPK

2: Install App Binaries from setup files used during initial setup

3: Will compare existing PS_HOME with New installed PS_APP_HOME and deploy updated files from existing PS_HOME if any(i.e. files comes up during bugfix etc ).

5: any flaw in above approach ?

Below upgrade approach suggested by oracle:

      1. Tools 8.57.03 are only for Cloud users (Oracle DB). The upgrade certified path for Non-Cloud users starts from 8.57.04

PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.57 Upgrade Home Page ( Doc ID 2442414.1 )

      2. Tools 8.53 is supported with MSS 2012 only till 2012 R2 OS and Tools 8.57.04 is certified with 2016 OS (Even Database, because 2012 R2 OS is retired by MSS). So, you need to take multi-step upgrade

      3. Upgrade PeopleTools to 8.56 on 2012 R2 and then migrate to 2016 OS

      4. Upgrade DB to 2017 (With 2016 Windows OS)

      5. Upgrade Tools to 8.57 (With Minimum of 04 patch level) on 2016 OS

      6. Perform Image update till PI33

Really appreciate for your valuable inputs.

      Thanks
